Native New Orleanians Doug and Rena headed for the island of Tortola to find their dream boat. And now they want to share her with you in this enchanting city they call home. Come aboard our 47 foot Beneteau sailboat, “Roux Stir,” named for the key ingredient of a delicious, heart-warming gumbo.
Whether you are a total beginner, or have been sailing for a while, Captain Doug can help you improve your skills. We will work with your schedule, and customize your sailing lessons to meet your needs.
This was the most relaxing and memorable birthday experience that my hubby arranged for my birthday with the New Orleans Yacht Experience team.
Captain Doug is so down to earth and knowledgeable about the history of the Lake and the area. He picked us up from the designated area and drove us to the Lakefront docking area. He was talking to us and making us feel welcome already before we got to their beautiful Roux Stir. His sailing skills and style is so relaxing and amazing. Rena! Rena! What a beautiful amazing lady who took care of us on board serving us drinks, snacks and of course her homemade delicious ginger cookies and caprese skewers were awesome. Captain Doug and Rena were so prepared for us and made me feel so special on my birthday. It was a very relaxing one of a kind sailing experience. The boat is so beautiful, well kept and very clean and the whole arrangement was spectacular including their music selection. We will go back again to unwind and relax from time to time and we will highly recommend their service to our Nola peeps and out of town guests. Thank you for the wonderful experience and outstanding service. Looking forward already for the next round.
We took a chance on something new in NOLA, and it was well worth the gamble. Such a beautiful, peaceful evening – and we were treated like royalty! It was just what we needed to de-stress and re-focus on us. We are planning our next trip within the next month…might even become a “habit”…sailing was smooth, snacks were fabulous, and the company was awesome.
An invigorating detour from the well-trodden tourist paths of New Orleans.
